An online devotional for writers

A Word From The Word

They begged him to stay in their village. So he stayed for two days, long enough for many more to hear his message and believe. (John 4:40-41, NLT)

A Word For Writers

Your Bounce Rate: keep visitors on your website longer. A #devotional for writers based on John 4:40-41 with Word Wise at Nonprofit Copywriter #FreelanceWriting #ChristianWriting

Your website’s bounce rate tracks the number of visitors who view just one page and click off –  “bounce” – rather than viewing additional pages on your site.

Why do they leave?

Most often, they haven’t found what they need … or they’ve found the answer they were looking for and then quit your site.

Writing tip: readers will stay longer and check out other pages on your site when you tempt them with more enticing information and link them to other relevant, internal posts.

Jesus did this with the Samaritan woman the well. He struck up a conversation with her by asking her for water.

That opened up a dialogue. Jesus offered intriguing tidbits of information about Himself, the woman, and the water, which eventually led to deeper issues of faith.

Is it any wonder the woman was captivated and asked for more?

Soon, she brought the rest of the village to Jesus. They begged Him for additional information and He ended up staying.

Give your readers what they need – and more. When you intrigue readers and overdeliver, they stay on your site longer. And your bounce rate goes down.

A Wise Word

Overdeliver to your online readers.

A Word To Pray

Heavenly Father,

You are always willing to give me more information. Yet so often I don’t ask. Help me answer my readers’ questions, but also show them the benefit of learning more.

In Jesus’s name, Amen.
